Episode 12: Living the Suite Life
For this video, I had the incredible opportunity to live in one of Canada’s finest hotels for a few weeks! It really was a dream come true, and I definitely felt like I was a cast member in the Suite Life of Zack and Cody if any of you remember that kids tv show.
Because I was there for a while, I was able to delve deep into all of the amenities and incredible offerings that the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto has to offer. Which, by the way, are a lot.
During my time at the FS Toronto, I was able to familiarize myself with the hotel’s values and how they do things. Top to bottom, from the Four Seasons Magazine in every room to the freshly-prepared juice on the room service menu, or the front desk staff, there was such a consistency that I feel confident in recommending this hotel to just about anyone.
Being able to experience such luxury also got me thinking. What is luxury, anyway?
In creating this week’s episode I didn’t want to make a video where I simply flaunted my time here. I really wanted to contextualize it for all of you and show you that although luxury can look like Egyptian cotton sheets and luxe robes, it’s actually relative.
Luxury means different things to different people. I hope that through watching this video you can get a sense of that, and start to take notice of all the luxury in your life too. I loved reading your comments and seeing that you all learned to see your relationships, your health and other aspects of your lives as luxuries to appreciate too.
In terms of the Four Seasons Toronto Hotel itself, it really is top-notch and I would say that if it’s in your budget to splurge 700-800$ a night on a hotel stay, to do it here.
It is well-reputed for good reason.
The staff are kind and professional throughout every area of the hotel. I was treated so well from the front desk to Café Boulud, the in-house French brasserie headed by chef Daniel Boulud, and dBar, the lounge bar downstairs.
Speaking of Café Boulud, I highly recommend going with family or friends around dinner time, as it is an experience not soon forgotten. The French onion soup, the truffle fries, the Quenelle and Lobster, the scallops, the list goes on. I took my mom and grandmother, and they loved it. I’m very thankful to have spent that time with them. Check out the photos above.
If you’re worried about staying fit during your stay, the fitness center is very well-equipped. There are treadmills, weights, a yoga room, TRX suspension training bands, a peloton, and more. There’s also fresh towels, snacks and flavoured water in the gym, like hydrating coconut or refreshing cucumber-lime. The little touches make all the difference.
Truthfully, I spent so much time at the Spa it’s probably embarrassing. To the point where the staff all knew me by name. No regrets though!
The spa is beautifully decorated with orchids and crystals and the environment itself is quiet and healing. My insider tips? The spa offers certain hours for families with kids. If you’re interested in quiet time, maybe plan to go outside of these times. Another pro tip? The Karuna hydrating face masks at the shop are so incredible I made them a staple in my beauty routine at home. Also, they can deliver them to your room! Complete with hot tub, steam rooms, and a massage area, it’s a wonder I ever left the spa. If you want to enjoy it yourself, you can book a massage or other service and have access to the spa for the rest of the day. Not a bad way to unwind!
The suites themselves are beautiful, modern spaces with comfortable beds, great desks for working, soft couches and lovely bathrooms stocked with Le Labo products. You can order room service any time, day or night, and as you can see from the photos, all of it is incredible. They have kids’ menus too if you are staying with little ones. Taking advantage of their shoe shine and dry cleaning service is available with a quick turnaround, and they do a really great job.
And now, well, it’s back to reality for me.
A dream come true and I’m so glad I got to share it with all of you!
Like I say in the video, luxury really is a personal concept. What’s luxurious to me isn’t what might appeal to you. That said though, there’s a good chance that you’ll enjoy everything that the Four Seasons Toronto has to offer!
What did you think? What luxuries do you enjoy?
